The Tulpi-InMotion is a unique bench design that takes inspiration from the beauty of nature, specifically the tulip. Created by designer Marco Manders, this bench is not only visually striking with its organic shape, but it also embodies the concept of social design, enhancing the value and appearance of our surroundings.

Manders aimed to create an experience that evokes childhood memories of rocking on a chair, swinging on a swing, and floating on an air mattress. The Tulpi-InMotion provides a slight fluctuation, allowing users to immerse themselves in a peaceful atmosphere. It strikes the perfect balance between providing a pleasant sensation without overwhelming the senses.

The Tulpi-InMotion is made using hot-dip galvanized steel, powder coated steel, or stainless steel, ensuring its durability and longevity. The bench is available in different variants, offering options for seating areas made of steel, textilene, or bamboo.

One of the standout features of the Tulpi-InMotion is its integrated rocking mechanism. The arm of the bench is designed to provide a smooth rocking motion, adding to the overall experience of sitting on the bench. It combines functionality with aesthetics, creating a truly unique and engaging design.

The development of the Tulpi-InMotion took one year, with a focus on design, ergonomic features, and engineering processes. The project started in January 2016 and was successfully realized in January 2017.

The Tulpi-InMotion underwent extensive research, including exploratory studies and testing. The designer and team examined the current streetscape in multiple cities and conducted online research to ensure the design's uniqueness. The biggest challenge faced during the design process was integrating the shape of a tulip into the bench while maintaining a smooth rocking motion for the user.

The Tulpi-InMotion has received recognition for its outstanding design. In 2017, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Street and City Furniture Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life.
